MORE TRADE UNION ARRESTS IN IRAN

Sheis Amani, the former president of Dismissed and Unemployed Workers Union’s executive board was arrested and transported to the central prison of Sanandaj on April 23, 2008 while referring to the court to make adjustments to his bail.
Appeals court of Kurdistan province reduced an initial court ruling of more than two years in prison for Sheis Amani and Sedigh Karimi also a member of Dismissed and Unemployed Workers Union’s executive board, to six months.Sheis Amani and Sedigh Karimi were among a group of 13 people who were arrested and imprisoned during the May Day celebrations of 2007 that took place in Sanandaj.Iran Free Workers Union in a statement in which was copied to International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), condemned the arrest and imprisonment of Shis Amani.
